Bobbivo: an evening fishing contest on the Bosphorus
Bobbivo is a free fishing game in the browser. Up to six anglers stand at the rail of the Salacak promenade in Istanbul and fish at once, from golden hour into the night, with the sun setting behind the old city and the Maiden’s Tower out in the strait. Cast, strike when the float goes under, fight the fish on the drag without snapping the line, and bring in the heaviest bag. Play with friends by invite link or against bots, in English or Turkish.

How to fish
Aim along the water and hold to charge your cast: a ring swings out to where the float will land and names the spot and its depth. Nibbles twitch the float; when it is pulled under and the bell on the rod rings, strike. Too early scares the fish, too late and it steals the bait. Then hold to reel and let go to ease off: reel when the fish tires or swims at you, ease off when it runs.
The fight and the drag
- The drag caps the tension: set it light and the fish takes line, set it tight and the line breaks more easily.
- Each species fights its own way: bluefish shake their heads, bonito make long runs, sea bass and garfish leap, groupers and bream dive for the rocks.
- Slack line throws the hook, too long in the red snaps it, and soft-mouthed mullet and squid tear free if you haul.
Twenty fish of the Bosphorus
From the rocks at the wall to the current far out, the reef towards the Maiden’s Tower and the old ferry pier, every spot has its own fish, and they change with the hour: horse mackerel and bonito by day, bluefish at dusk, squid and the swordfish at night. Twenty species, from the black goby to the legendary dusky grouper, each painted on its own catch card with its weight, length and Latin name. A log book keeps the ones you have caught.
Friends, bots and parties
Open a room and share the link; up to six anglers join and the host can add bots. On your own, fish beside one to five easy, normal or hard bots that cast, strike and fight like people. The heaviest total weight wins the evening. Bobbivo is also a round in wleeaf Play parties.
Questions
Do we take turns?
No. Everyone fishes at the same time, so a contest lasts just a few minutes.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, upright or sideways: touch the water to aim, hold and let go to cast, tap to strike, hold to reel.
