How to play
Each captain places a carrier, a battleship, a cruiser, a submarine and a destroyer on a ten-by-ten sea. Ships may touch but never overlap. Then you take turns firing at the enemy grid: a white float marks a miss, fire marks a hit. When every square of a ship is hit, it sinks and its wreck shows. Sink the whole enemy fleet to win.
Three ways to fight
- Classic: one shot a turn.
- Salvo: one shot for every ship you still have afloat, so every loss weakens your next volley.
- Arsenal: classic, plus one sonar ping that counts ship squares in a 3×3 area, one torpedo that runs along a row or column until it strikes, and one barrage of four shells.
- An optional turn clock of 15, 30 or 60 seconds keeps a game moving.
Friends, the computer or one screen
- Online with a friend: share the invite link. The server checks every shot and never shows your fleet to the other side until the battle ends; a dropped connection gets your seat back within 30 seconds.
- Against the computer: easy plays like a casual player, normal hunts methodically, hard fires where the remaining ships are most likely to be.
- Same device: a hide-the-screen handoff before each turn.
- Hullivo is also a round in wleeaf Play parties, where bots can take a seat.
Controls
Your fleet starts in a random legal layout. Drag a ship to move it, tap it to turn it, or shuffle. Hover or touch an enemy square to aim and release to fire. On a keyboard, the arrows aim and Enter fires.
