Obivo: Werewolf in a nomad camp
Obivo is a free online Werewolf (also known as Mafia) for the browser. It is played in a camp of black goat-hair tents on a summer pasture in the Taurus mountains: the players sit on kilims round a fire, kilims hang at the tents’ doors, and snowy ridges stand far off. By night the Milky Way and a full moon come out and wolves’ eyes shine in the dark; at dawn a mist lies in the hollows. How to play
- Six to eight sit round the fire, and each draws a secret role: two Wolves, the Seer, the Shepherd, the Hunter and Nomads.
- At night the Wolves choose their prey together (on the first night they only find each other). The Seer reads one person’s fortune: wolf or not. The Shepherd sends the dogs to guard one tent.
- At dawn you learn who was taken, and what they were. By day, talk: accuse, vouch for someone, claim a role, truthfully or not.
- At the vote the most votes drives that person from the camp, and their role is turned over. If the Hunter dies, he looses one last arrow.
- The camp wins when every Wolf is gone; the Wolves win when they are as many as everyone else, or if they are still there after the fourth day.
Friends, bots and parties
Start a camp and send the link; bots fill the empty places. Bots play at easy, normal or hard: hard bots read the voting record, weigh what the Seer says and catch a false Seer. Days are long and nights short, made for a party talking on voice chat, and a friend who reloads the page takes the same place and role back.
The camp
Everything is drawn in the browser: firelight flickering on faces, sparks rising, fireflies in the grass, a strand of glowing yarn from each voter’s hand to the one they name, the exiled walking out into the dark, the Hunter’s burning arrow. Saz strings, a shepherd’s kaval and the wolves’ howls are synthesised in the browser too.

Yes, it is the same kind of game: secret roles, a hunt by night and a vote by day. Obivo has its own camp, roles and look: a Seer, a Shepherd and a Hunter on the camp’s side.
