Kalivo: hold a lantern-lit outpost together
Kalivo is a free co-op build-and-defend game for 1 to 4 players in the browser. You share one lantern-lit outpost in an autumn forest: by day you chop trees, quarry stone and dig gold, and build walls, gates and towers. By night the creatures of the Gloom come out of rifts at the forest’s edge and walk on the Hearth. If the Hearth goes out the game is over, and every night is harder than the last.

How to play
Walk with WASD or the arrows, aim with the mouse and click to strike. Your pickaxe takes wood from trees, stone from rocks and gold from veined stones, all into the team’s shared stash. Press 1–9 to pick a wall, gate, spikes, an arrow, cannon, frost or lightning tower, a gold mine or a sawmill and place it on the grid; drag to lay a whole line of walls. Click a building to upgrade, repair or sell it.
The rules
- Runners are quick, spitters hit towers from afar, breakers go straight through walls and brutes take a lot of killing.
- Creatures choose between walking round a wall and breaking through it, whichever is cheaper.
- Every fifth night the Gloom Warden comes, and the dawn waits until it falls.
- Buildings go up to five tiers, but never above the Hearth’s tier.
- In Siege the team that holds ten nights wins; in Endless your score is the nights you survive.
Friends or bots
Start with bots in one click, or open a room and share the link. Bot teammates gather, build walls and towers to a plan, upgrade the Hearth on time, take their bows at night to the side under attack and repair walls about to fall. They play at easy, normal or hard; the game is in English and Turkish.
Controls
On a phone there is a stick on the left and a strike button on the right that aims by itself at the nearest creature, tree or rock. To build, pick a building from the bar, tap the map where it goes and confirm. It plays upright or sideways, and gamepads work too.

Can I play alone?
Yes, with three bot teammates or entirely on your own. Alone, your pickaxe gathers more.
